Last year taxpayers helped to provide approximately 300 spay and neuter surgeries to pets in Pulaski County. In 2018, we want to exceed that number with a voluntary $5 contribution toward the Pulaski County Spay/Neuter fund on personal property tax, business tax and new this year—real estate tax bills.
Residents have two options to GIVE 5: use the payment coupon when paying by check or if paying online, check the “animal control” box on the web site.
Also new this year, taxpayers have the option to give more than $5 if he or she chooses. See the tax payment coupon for more information.
Every dollar donated will subsidize spay/neuter services for pets of Pulaski County residents who cannot afford the cost to spay/neuter on their own.
The spay/neuter fund was created in an effort to reduce the animal shelter population and the stray pet population. Each year in Pulaski County, residents will surrender, rehome or abandon approximately 30,000 to 40,000 cats and dogs. About half will enter one of five city shelters in the county, while the rest will be neglected, possibly dumped, many of them surviving on their own—only about ten percent will have been spayed or neutered.
